Buying Tips for Sporting Goods

Tips For Choosing a Vendor
  • Is the supplier experienced enough?
Find information about the supplier like, from when they are manufacturing sports items, what are the different categories they are covering, where are their main export centers etc. Take a quick look at the history of the company.
  • Is he wiling to supply in bulk and retail both?
Be confirmed that whether the supplier will fulfill the demands only in bulk or he is wiling to supply in retail also. Make the terms clear that whether the rate for bulk and retail purchase will be same or different. Be clear about the minimum order or quantity he will supply so that you haven't to suffer future problems.
  • What will be the payment mode and terms if any?
The payment mode and terms should be clear before finalizing the contact. Whether you have to pay in one time down payment, or he is wiling to be paid in installment basis. Also, be sure that in installment basis he is charging any interest rate.
  • Is he able to deliver timely to your desired location?
Supplier is able to deliver the items timely or not, or what time he will take after confirmation to deliver the goods. Is he capable enough to deliver the goods to your desired location.
  • Is he able to supply all the items you need?
Be sure that the vendor is supplying all the items you want. Are they manufacturing all those products or not?
  • Ask the supplier whether he is following international standards?
This point is of much concern because all the sports goods and equipments have some standard defined by the respective governing bodies. Like:
    • a cricket bat can't be longer than 96.5 cm including the handle, the width shouldn't exceed 10.8 cm, the thickness of the layer to protect the bat shouldn't exceed 1.56 mm
    • weight of football should be within 420gm to 445gm without air.
  • Will the supplier replace the damaged items?
Some of the items may get damaged due to transportation or technical fault. Be sure that he will replace those ones.
  • What is the level of packaging and quality ?
How the goods will be packaged. Is it secure enough for the goods to be supplied in this mode or it need some extra care.
