Shot Put Game
A shot put game is performed inside a circle whose diameter is 2.14 meters or 7-foot. There is a four-inch tall (10 cm) toe board at the front edge. The player must step into the front half of the circle but should not leave the circle during the throw. The weight must be thrown from the shoulder and pushed off the fingertips. Distance is measured from the inside of the circle's circumference to the closest disturbance of soil caused by throwing of the shot. Each competitor gets six chances, and the best single throw is the winner.
Shot Put Techniques
There are two major techniques in shot put:
- Glide: In the glide, the thrower leaps forward while turning and throwing the shot, that is "gliding" across the circle.
- Spin: Here the player simply rotates while throwing, without his feet leaving the ground.
