Lawn tennis is popular sport worldwide. Its a tennis game played on a grass court. In fact, the grass length is maintained at 19 mm so as to keep the ground surface soft as well as allowing the ball to bounce. Below mentioned are the rules and regulations standardized by the International Tennis Federation which plays the key role in regulating the worldwide tennis rules.
The Basics
The basic structure of a
tennis court holds an area of 78 feet of length and 27 feet of width (the dimension changes in case of doubles as 78 feet by 36 feet). The net being 36 inches in the center and 42 inches at the net posts. The players are supposed to serve a ball from the right side of the court into the service box which happens to be beyond the net diagonally. Now, the tennis ball should make a bounce on the return of serve, but once the ball is in the game, it is on the players whether to hit the ball straight away or let it make a bounce once. A serve needs to be tossed at the minimum of 6 inches before being struck and also cannot bounce before being hit. A player can have only two attempts at the serve or else it would be a loss of point called double fault.

The Score Pattern
Players at the opposing sides of serving, win the game when either of them has won four points by a minimum margin of two. The traditional scoring in lawn tennis is referred as 'ad scoring' and the traditional way of counting is love, 15, 30, 40. the term 'Deuce' refers to a situation where both the sides are standing at 40 and in requirement of two points, hence the game moves in to an 'ad' to the side having the gaining deuce point thus, taking the game back to a level game. In order to win a set, either of the player has to win 6 games with a margin of two. At a 6-6 point situation, a tie breaker decides the game with the first player to score a 7 being the winner.
