Proper Model

Selecting the proper model of the bat is one of the important factors. There are different cricket bat models available in the market. You need to select one depending on your batting style. There are bats that are specifically designed keeping in view the specific styles of batting adopted by cricket players. For this you should know what kind of batting skill you have and what bat model you will require for batting in your particular style of batting. The variation between models must be taken into consideration before making the final choice.

Correct Size

Correct size plays a vital role. The size of the bat depends on the player's height, weight and body structure. The best way to find if a cricket bat is of the right size is to stand in your batting pose and rest the toe of the bat against the outside of your back foot. Next you lean the bat so that the top of the handle rests next to the inside groin of the front leg of yours. If the bat rests comfortably next to your box on the inside groin of your front leg, then it is the correct size bat for you.

Most cricket bats comes starting from the size 5 and up to the complete full size. Usually for players, whose height is 4'11" to 5'2", the starting size is recommended and players those who are above 5.9" the full complete size is suggested.

Willow

Another crucial factor to consider is the willow with which the bat is made. There are various types of willow used for making cricket bats. English willow is considered the best willow for making cricket bats.

Weight

The weight of the cricket bat is an important consideration. Here don't get influenced by weight of the bat of your favorite batsman. You should know your kind of batting style and accordingly choose your bat. It is seen usually that the stroke makers use lighter bat and heavier bats are used by hitters. The most light weight bats are from 2 lbs to 7 ozs. The heavy bats are available in the size from 2 lbs to 10 ozs and more than this.

Sweet spot

There is a sweet spot in a cricket bat, which is the spot or location from where the maximum quantity of power comes from beginning to end. This is the spot where the player will attain the utmost shot. If you see from the toe, the typical sweet spot in a cricket bat is from 4" to 12". This is the normal sweet spot suitable for the player with a full range of shots.
