June 4, 2010- Handball is an extremely popular game all over the world. Quite similar to racquetball or squash, the only difference in handball is that, in this game, the ball is hit by hand and not by any other thing. Generally, 2-4 players can easily play the game as either singles or in doubles. Handball equipments that one would need for playing the game include only three things i.e. a handball, handball gloves and handball posts and nets.

Below are few steps which can help you understand the basics of 4 wall handball rules better.

Step 1
The positioning of players is very important while playing the game of handball. The server needs to stand within the service zone which is a point 10 feet away from the front wall. The opponents are supposed to be at least 5 feet behind the server.

Step 2
Now, make the ball bounce once on the floor and as the ball strikes back towards the player it needs to be hit towards the front wall in such a way that it first strikes the wall straightaway without touching the floor and then successfully bounces back towards the service zone.

Step 3
As the ball enters the service zone, it has to be returned back to the wall by hitting it hard with palm of fist. Make sure that the ball is hit swiftly so that it doesn't hit the floor twice. This particular act has to be done by the opponents or the competing team. The rule says that the ball can hit the sidewalls prior to the front wall hit but in any case, it should not hit the floor before hitting the wall.

Step 4
The game continues with the same rules as above with alternate turns amongst the opponents or teams. Once the very first turn of hitting the ball on the front wall is done, the players are free to hit the ball on any of the four walls but without letting it drop or making it touch the ground.

Step 5
Now, the points are decided by keeping a track of the number of times the ball hit the floor. It should not touch the floor more than once prior to hitting it back or else the opponent would gain a winning point. The point gaining team or opponent becomes the server and remains so until the other team gains a point. Finally, like other games whoever makes more points, wins the game.
