June 11, 2010- One of the most anticipated event of the year : The 2010 FIFA World Cup is set to start from today onwards. Football lovers all over the world had been waiting for this nerve wrecking event since last four years. This month long sport event would see the participation of 32 countries all across the globe, competing and giving their best shot to take the prestigious trophy back home.

The opening ceremony of the event took place on 10 June 2010 at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto. The grand stadium came alive with the gathering of thousands of fans to herald the epic battle of football. The opening ceremony was graced by the performances of renowned celebrities and entertainers like Shakira, Black Eyed Peas, Juanes, Amandou and Mariam among others. As it is, the 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem "Waka-Waka" has become a rage all through out the world and it indeed stimulated the adrenaline rushes of every football enthusiast in the Orlando stadium at the glitzy opening ceremony of the event.

Though the high point of the event remained the moment when, Sepp Blatter, President, Federation Internationale de Football expressed the enthralling excitement surrounding the stadium as "Football Connects People". The crowd went roaring with appreciation for the president for the crisp statement.

The first two matches which would mark the beginning of the 2010 FIFA World Cup are scheduled as:

-South Africa vs Mexico: 11 June, 4.00pm at Johannesburg
-Uruguay vs France: 11 June, 8.30pm at Cape Town

One can easily source the event tickets online and can heartily cheer for their country from the stands, or else, the global broadcast of the matches can be followed live on television as per the varied time zones.
